Walia Celebrates 10 Years in South Orange Downtown

As we continue to celebrate our black entrepreneurs and community leaders for Black History Month in South Orange, we’re so excited to announce the next Downtown on Display with Walia Ethiopian Restaurant. We’re celebrating Walia’s 10 Year Anniversary in South Orange with authentic food, live music and wine on Sunday Feb 26th from 3PM-5PM or 6PM-8PM. Tickets are required.

Shewaye Yassin opened Walia in 2013 as a place to share her passion and talent for cooking Ethiopian food. Since then, it has become one of the most beloved restaurants in the area. The relaxed eatery dishes out down-home recipes, and the staff is always on hand to help diners who are new to Ethiopian cuisine.

Downtown on Display is a South Orange Downtown program which focuses on spotlighting the amazing small businesses located in the downtown district. The goal is to have you experience South Orange Downtown and everything it has to offer.
